A few have tweeted me to let me know what else Perez Hilton has said on twitter regarding Michael Jackson. I assure you that I only saw the breaking news from Perez as mentioned in my blog posting. Although now deleted from his twitter page, you can read the story here on mashable: http://mashable.com/2009/06/25/perez-hilton-michael-jackson/

I dont think there has ever been or will be an entertainer of this caliber and fame. Even in remote villages in India where people who didn't even know what USA stood for, knew that there is someone in this world named Michael Jackson who is the King of Pop culture.

You're in for a big surprise regarding social networking. Check out the latest studies about Twitter for instance. Evidence shows that close to 70% never post anything to their account once they signed up. The rest of the findings was dismal as well.

I have to give it to Twitter (and the investors behind it), the buzz campaign was very successful and expensive. But no adoption means no long term success.

All marketers can do is make sure they use a buzz word here and there in their plan to appear on the cutting edge. This was turn 15 years ago and it is still true today.
